He's On Fire

December 26, 2008 12:31 pm

Jeff Carter is lighting it up and has to be in the top 3 in MVP voting so far.

Thoughts?

Oh and chances on getting a #1 goalie rather than two backups?

Some of your favorite Flyers of all time

June 12, 2008 11:47 pm

Some of my favorite Flyers players of all time (well not all time for me, just the guys that I got to watch play, 1994 to present).

John LeClair - Legion of Doom, need I say more? 5 40+ goal seasons in a row, 382 goals as a Flyer in the regular season and 42 in the playoffs. LeClair was a major reason the Flyers were a legit conteder for the Cup every year in the late 90s. It was a shame to see him go and even worse to see him go to the Penguins. He is currently listed as a free-agent, but I don't see him making a comeback to the NHL.

Eric Desjardins - Should be known as the defenceman. Loved this guy, always played with heart and always used his head. Ranked 2nd all time in points for a Flyers d-man with 396 (Mark Howe is first with 480). 7 time Barry Ashbee winner (award given to best d-man for the Flyers). Although it wasn't with the Flyers, just proof as to how great this guy was, he was the first defencemen to ever score a hat-trick in the Stanley Cup.

Keith Primeau - He didn't have a very long career as a Flyer, but this guy is probably my all-time favorite player and he didn't even complete a whole season as a Flyer once. But none of that mattered. This guy played with heart everytime he stepped on the ice and while he never had insane number, he always came up at the biggest times. Scored the winner against the Penguins in 5 OT and the biggest goal ever, the tying goal late in the 3rd against the Lightning in game 6 of the Conference Finals in 2004. It's a shame that his career ended early. I would love to see this guy still skating around on the ice.

Ron Hextall - I'm glad that I had the chance to watch this guy wear the Flyers uniform. I remember in 1994 when he played for the Islanders, my brother was telling me how great Hextall was and how it's a shame that I didn't get too see him play as a Flyer. Well the next year the Flyers brought him back and in 1996 and 97 he had 2 of his best seasons ever, posting 2 31 win seasons in a row. It's a shame that this guy never got to hoist the Cup, one of the most deserving players of all time, but thats the way it goes. I guess he made up for it, by scoring a goal.

Rod Brind'Amour - This guy had (and still has) one of the strongest work ethics you will ever see a player have, in any sport. The consecutive start streak of 484 is more impressive than Cal Ripken and possibly even more impressive than Brett Favre's streak. He always fought hard and always stepped it up when it was needed most. Of all the guys to leave the Flyers, this is one that I wish never happened, but I am glad that he was able to win a Stanley Cup in what I think is a sure Hall of Famer.

There are plenty more and I will continue the list in other posts over time.

What about you guys?
